Frequently Asked Questions
CBD Basics
CBD is an abbreviation for Cannabidiol, a naturally occurring molecule found in the cannabis (hemp) plant. It interacts with your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) which regulates a wide range of biological functions.
With the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD has officially been removed from the Controlled Substances Act and is legal to possess/consume/sell everywhere in the US. All hemp and hemp derivatives under 0.3% THC are compliant.
Simply put, CBD oil contains CBD, and hemp oil does not. Hemp oil is created by cold-pressing hemp seeds (similar to olive oil) and contains essentially no cannabinoids, but is quite healthy for different reasons.
Both have the scientific name of Cannabis Sativa. The distinction is purely a legal (and completely arbitrary) one. Hemp contains less than 0.3% THC while marijuana often contains 15-25% THC. The CBD and THC content produced by the plant is primarily influenced by its seed genetics.
CBD Science
CBD and THC are similar molecules, but they have different characteristics. CBD is not intoxicating while THC can have mind-altering effects. Both interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) and can be used to treat a wide variety of ailments. Adjusting the CBD to THC ratio of products can help fine-tune a product for a particular disposition (although most states limit the amount of THC allowed in products). CBD and THC are both formed in the hemp plant’s flowers.
CBD interacts with your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) which is responsible for regulating a wide variety of biological processes (sleep, appetite, immune function, pain response, and mood to name a few). Since the ECS controls so many different things in your body, manipulation of it can have profound effects. Most pharmaceuticals have one compound (i.e. drug) interact with one specific receptor which induces one specific effect. CBD and hemp extracts, in general, interact with numerous receptors in the ECS in a variety of ways making it difficult to attribute just one compound to one receptor and one effect. This is one of the major challenges in getting CBD products or any plant derivative through a clinical trial.
CBD is created in the cannabis plant, primarily in the flowers of unpollinated females. Along with other cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, CBD acts as a natural antifungal, antibacterial, and insecticidal agent to protect the plant.
All of our products use all-natural ingredients (most of them organic). The hemp extract that we create must be diluted with other oils (known as carrier oils) which assist the CBD becoming absorbed into your body. All ingredients are listed on our product descriptions as well as on the label. The Full Spectrum Hemp Extract itself (found in all of our products) is what contains the CBD along with a plethora of other beneficial compounds. Minor cannabinoids (CBG, THC, CBC), terpenes, and a wide variety of other plant components make up the extract. These other naturally occurring compounds are as follows: Amino acids, Carbohydrates, Vitamins (including B1, B2, B6, D), Fatty acids (including omega 3 & 6), Trace minerals (including iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, potassium), Beta-carotene, Chlorophyll, Flavonoids, Ketones, Nitrogenous compounds, Alkanes, Glycosides, Pigments, and Water.
According to federal regulations, we are not allowed to make claims about our product. We can only recommend using it for general wellness. We encourage users to do their own research.
Using Your CBD
Sublingual (i.e. under the tongue) delivery of CBD is one of the most effective methods of delivery. CBD is absorbed quickly in your mucous membrane and enters your bloodstream. Sublingual delivery is superior to swallowing your CBD (think capsules or gummies) because the CBD does not have to pass through your entire digestive system before being absorbed into the bloodstream. Additionally, your digestive system will partially break down some of the CBD ingested so you get less into your system and it takes longer.
Our products list the total amount of CBD (in milligrams) in the entire container. The concentration (mg of CBD per mL) is also listed on our labels. We offer higher concentrations for customers looking for better value and more potent relief.
We typically recommend starting with the 1000 mg tincture. Once a user has a good idea of what their personal dosage is, it is often economical to move up to the 3000 or even the Gold Reserve (4000) mg tincture (fewer dollars per mg CBD).
Every person responds differently to CBD, but generally speaking, we recommend starting with 10-20 mg of CBD twice daily (morning and night). Users are encouraged to increase this dosage after a couple of days if they don’t experience any benefits. People with more severe conditions may consider starting with higher dosages (30-40 mg) and increase until a desirable effect is achieved. As with any substance, you want to find your minimum effective dose (MED).
Every person is different but generally, users can expect 6-10 hours of relief. Some effects will be felt almost immediately but the “peak” will occur 1-2 hours from administrating and last multiple hours.
We recommend our topical products for local pain and tinctures for overall wellness but feel free to experiment and find out what works for you.

Technically speaking a Mushroom is the Fruiting Body of the entire fungal organism (basidiomycetes). Basidiomycetes also have a vegetative part called mycelium that grows on/into the ground to gather nutrients for the organism similar to roots for a plant. Mass market products are often labeled as “Mushrooms” when in reality they are just ground up mycelium. The majority of the beneficial compounds are found in the Mushroom/Fruiting Body part of the organism - not in the mycelium/vegetative state. This is why our products contain 100% Fruiting Bodies.
